ADDITIONAL INFO:
The later half of January has been a tad slow compared earlier in the season but is still better than any lake in the states. One of the reasons is because the females are starting to move to the beds. This is why soft plastic jerk worms have been working very well up shallow. Also Senko (by Gary Yamamoto) has been tearing them up. Even hooking the senko’s wacky style has been producing. On the deeper end it has been about half and half between Texas Rigs & Carolina rigs. A 5/16-bullet weight in the mourning and a ½ to ¾ ounce bullet weight in the afternoon when the wind picks up is recommended. A Mojo weight has been the preferred choice for the customers who have them while throwing a Carolina rig because it doesn’t get hung up as much. Green pumpkin has been the best color so far and in a close second is black with a blue tail followed by the colors mentioned above.
Bill and Paula Cirone hooked and landed 3 fish over 9 pounds including a 12.6 pounder, which happens to be the biggest of the week. Chris and Ernie from California landed most of their big fish Carolina rigging deep in about 15-25 feet of water. They caught and released 8 fish over 8 pounds including a 10.8 pounder. The best stick of the crew, Mike Lauck, caught three 10 pounders and two 9’s in his 3 days of fishing. Again these are some of the success stories of the week. Not everybody is going to do the same but we sure hope you do! Good Luck.
