Dave Burkhardt from Triple Fish fishing line caught and released the biggest bass of the week with a 14.8 pounder. His partner Katie Watson also landed many fish over 10 pounds mostly on brushogs, gatordogs, and plastic worms. Stan Fagerstrom, who celebrated his 79th birthday at Lake El Salto, got one of the greatest gifts of his life with an 11.8-pound largemouth bass. Stan has been fishing for 72 years and landed his first bass over 10 pounds. Great job Stan! There was a total of 286 fish over 8 pounds recorded this report. Most of the big fish have been coming deep on plastic worms and jigs in the trees. Some people are using 50 lb braided line to pull the hogs out of the trees. A lot of customers are breaking of their big fish because once one is hooked it heads right for the trees. This kind of helps the problem. Rick Hatch and son did a combo trip at El Salto and a deep-sea excursion and landed a 10 pounded along with 6 sailfish in Mazatlan. Chappy, Bruce Holt (G.Loomis) and Ken Schultz (Field & Stream) also did a combo trip and landed 4 roosterfish, 7 Dorado, and lost a Big blue marlin along with a sailfish. Two of the Dorado were 50+ pounds and one was caught on a bass setup. Ken landed an 11-pound largemouth at El Salto. We did experience some rainfall for a day and it has been quite cool for June and the fishing has been spectacular!
