ADDITIONAL INFO:
Most of the big bass have been coming on black and blue jigs with a big trailer in the trees. Fishing the trees has been deadly! Black and blue seems to be producing the best in all plastics and jigs. Also the colors in green pumpkin and motor oil have been doing well. Some big fish have been coming on crankbaits on the flats. Yo-Zuri’s watermelon deep diver and also the Fat Free Shad in the citrus color have been doing fairly well. There is topwater action in the morning on Pop R and Spooks but is difficult in the afternoons because of the wind. The weather is getting pretty warm and the lake is down a little bit from last year. This may explain why there are so many big fish being caught. The less water one has to fish the better chances they have to find big bass. Ed Whaley from American Rodsmith Rod Company, accompanied by, the group Bass Pro shops, landed the 15-pound largemouth bass. Steve Wampler and party of 3 landed 483 fish in 4 days with 38 fish over 8 pounds. Lake El Salto is on fire! It’s is only expected to get better!
