ADDITIONAL INFO:
The fish are still in the transition stage between pre and post spawn. Some of the bass are on the beds while others are, I guess, waiting for the tempature to get a little warmer. Most of the big bass are coming on green pumpkin and watermelon lizards in about 12-18 feet of water. A 10- inch worm has also been very good but in black with a blue tail. The big 11 pounder in this report came on that very lure. Most of the customers are landing an average of 20-50 bass per day. Crankbaits have been very productive as well. One of the success stories for this report comes from Larry Pallen from Califorina. He landed an amazing 17 fish from 8-pounds to 8.9-pounds on the Fat Free Shad in the Citrus color. Larry landed all of these fish in one afternoon. Throwing the crankbait up tight against the bank and working in down into deeper water has been the key. The recent Rapala group led by George Large had a 4 fish over 8-pounds in their 3 day stay. Ron Buhler from Hot Sauce bait attractent, hooked 3 fish over 10-pounds including an 11-pounder. Granted that everybodys fishing skill in different, not everybody is going to do as well as some of these stories but we can tell you that you have your best chance of catching a big one on Lake El Salto! |
