ADDITIONAL INFO:
During the tail end of the spawn, some quality big fish are being caught but the numbers of fish have been down. Most of the big fish have been caught on plastic worms and lizards Texas rigged. Black with blue tail, Junebug, and blue flake have been the primary colors for both 10” worms and 8”-10” lizards. Another hot bait for this report has been 1/2 spinnerbait in white, white/chartreuse and chartreuse. The Shimano group brought down some of their celebrities who have television shows throughout the states. Shimano executive V.P., Dave Pfeiffer landed some quality fish over 7 pounds while Marc Mills hooked a 9.8-pound largemouth. Jimmy Houston caught a 10.8 pounder and an 8.7-pound bass on a white 1/2 ounce Terminator spinnerbait by casting it out and retrieving it at a real fast pace working it just below the surface. Stu Lagaard and Jose Wejebe both landed fish over 10 pounds on their 3-day visit while Dan Sura caught and released a 9.8 pounder. The crankbait bite has been slower than normal. Most of the fish are coming in either real shallow water or in 15 feet or deeper. One of the baits that are starting to really produce some nice bass is the Storm Swimbait produced by Rapala. The 4” and 6” swimbait in the Golden Mullet color has been productive. One can work this bait just below the surface or let it sink to the bottom to work the deep sections. Be sure to bring your STORMS!  The topwater bite has been on especially on Ricos and Yo-Zuris.
