Additional Info:

Anglers are starting out in the morning throwing topwater plugs such as Spooks, Sammy’s or Vixens. “Walking the dog” has been producing quality size bass with some monsters in there as well. Once the topwater bite dies down, we are catching bass off the bank and the trees with 5” and 6” Flashes and Senkos. A mixture of both wacky and Texas style has been productive. The best colors for these soft plastic jerkbaits are watermelon, black w/ blue flake and green pumpkin. During mid-day, the fish are moving from the shoreline and heading into deeper water (15-25 feet) where we have been catching them on Carolina rigs mostly on 8” lizards, 7”-10” worms or 5”-6” Senkos. In the late afternoon, it’s back to Senkos, Flashes and then some exciting topwater fishing. Michael & Kathy McMillan landed three 10 pound bass, one 9 pounder and an 8 on their recent trip on all of the above techniques. Here is what Don Alliphan has to say about his recent trip.” Just a note of thanks to everyone for our couples' trip to El Salto last month. Jeri and I had the time of our lives. There is no question this was the best trip I've taken to this fantastic lake. This was my sixth trip and although my largest bass was nine pounds, the overall quality of the bass we caught during our three days was beyond our expectations.

I averaged 55 bass a day and Jeri, though she didn't come out with me each time we fished, she averaged 20 a day. Jeri had one of the best Flash and Senko bites she's experienced. She Texas-rigged the Senko and fished it weightless. I fished reaction baits mainly with most of my fish coming on a 3/8-ounce Nichols spinnerbait. One afternoon we found a concentration of shad in the back of a cove and I caught 24 bass between 3 and 6 pounds on consecutive casts. It was without a doubt the best hour and a half of spinnerbait fishing of my life. “
