Fred Pierson and Randy Seely, of Highland, Texas, were visitors to Anglers Inn in June. Let’s let them tell you how they felt about their trip: “I wanted to thank you again for a great trip,” Fred says. “This was our eighth trip to Anglers Inn and we agree it was the best ever. The fishing just seems to keep getting better. We caught from 100 to 140 fish per day, more than any previous trip. We also caught more large fish. We had 60 bass that ran from 5 to 10½-pounds. Both of us caught double digit fish. Our most productive baits were 10-inch worms in a black & blue color; Storm 5-inch golden mullet swimbaits; watermelon colored lizards and crankbaits. As always, the service and food at Anglers Inn was great. We are already planning our next trip. Thanks again.”
Terry Rader, of Dallas, Texas, had similar things to say about his June visit. Terry has been visiting Anglers Inn ever since it opened. “This was probably the best fishing trip I’ve ever made to El Salto Lake,” he says. “I caught from 25 to 30 bass that ran from 9 to 10-pounds. I had four bass between 10 and 11-pounds and two bass between 11 and 12-pounds. My largest was 11-pounds, 9-ounces. One morning Mike Herron, of Dallas, Texas, and I caught 77 bass on topwater baits. Ten of those fish weighed more than 7-pounds. The largest was 9 ½-pounds. I have never seen so many bass between 8 and 10-pounds. After feeding all summer, the lake should be full of 10-pounders next season. I fished with five different guides and was very pleased with all of them. Anglers Inn Lodge is magnificent and the service gets better and better. There is no doubt you and your dad have a 20-star lodge with the best fishing and service on the best lake in Mexico---and probably in the world.”
Jim Lampe, of California, was also a visitor in June. “I fished El Salto for five days and must have caught 300 bass,” Jim says. “My largest was 10-pounds, 3-ounces and I had another of 10-pounds. I caught lots of fish running from 6 to 8-pounds. I also had some 9-pounders. I caught two fish at the same time twice. The first time around one of the two fish weighed 5-pounds, the other 9-pounds. The second time it happened one bass weighed 2-pounds and the second weighed 6-pounds. On both doubles the fish hit a Bomber Fat Free Shad crankbait in a citrus color. It was a great experience reeling in two fish at the same time.”
Lots of our Anglers Inn visitors are saying this season has been the best they’ve seen for big fish. One angler who says this is Joe Bullock, of California. Joe provided us with a recap of his recent June trip. “I had 22 bass from 6 to 7-pounds; 24 bass from 7 to 7½-pounds; 14 bass from 8 to 8½-pounds; nine bass from 9 to 9¾-pounds; two bass from 10¼ to 10¾-pounds; one bass of 11½-pounds and three bass of 12-pounds. Most of my fish were caught on 5-inch swimbaits, Strike King Premier jigs and 10-inch Berkley Powerworms. I really don’t know how many fish of less than 5-pounds I caught, but it was in the hundreds. It was a great trip for big fish and I had a great time. This has been one of the best seasons ever. The fishing will be equally great next year.”
Chip and Josie Garner are with Magazine Arkansas. They had a super experience on their June El Salto visit. Chip ended up with a 13-pounder and also had 50 other bass of 8-pounds or more. All of these fish were caught on Storm 5-inch WildEye Swim Shads in a shad color. |
