Summer fishing is much better than many anglers expect it to be, and the
number of 8-, 9-, 10- and 11-pound bass caught this month is incredible
by anyone’s standard. As one of our visitors so aptly put it, “The
fishing is awesome!”
Jeff Nolte says he has dreamed of fishing in Mexico for many years and
was excited to finally come down after watching many fishing shows shot
at Anglers Inn. “I was not disappointed,” he told us. “Your staff made
me feel at home from the moment I climbed into the van. The service and
food alone were worth the trip, but the fishing was also incredible. My
guide put me on several fish that broke 25-pound-test line, and helped
me land the biggest of my trip, a hawg caught on a Storm swimbait that
weighed just over 8 pounds. I had eight fish over 7 pounds and countless
more over 6. Most were caught on swimbaits or weightless Senkos. I can't
wait to come back!”

He Opens the Door for Bass |

"He Opens the Door for Bass"
By Stan Fagerstrom
Eventually darn near everything of much importance boils
down to people.
Now I don’t mean that blue skies and nice weather
aren’t welcome. Nor am I throwing rocks at smooth waters or hungry
fish. Even so, sooner or later it’s people who make the big difference.
It might be the gal you married. Maybe it’s the person who is
your supervisor on whatever job you do for a living. Perhaps it’s
a landlord, a city official or a good friend. Whatever or whomever they
are, it’s people who are eventually going to determine how you
and I feel about things day in and day out.

As we roll into summer, action for big El
Salto bass continues to be red-hot. Near dawn, topwater and spinnerbait
action is good, and later in the day, crankbaits, swimbaits, soft
plastics and other lures are nabbing bass in deeper water. Anglers in
each boat are averaging 60-80 bass daily, and lots of those largemouths
are true lunkers. Three- to 7-pounders are really abundant, and nearly
everyone who’s on the lake is bringing in an 8- to 10-pounder sometime
during their stay. Bigger bass always are possible, too. Just ask Jimmy
Webster III who was just down for a visit.

The contrast is perfectly beautiful—the crimson of the red snapper tugging at my line in the sapphire-blue water of the clear Pacific Ocean. This is the twenty-third snapper I have reeled up from a reef 140 feet below the surface, but the brilliant coloring of this one amazes me no less than the first. The pink fish with ruby eyes is stunning.
